Intermediate Track

Designed for students who want to get stronger on one piece of equipment (sabre, rifle, or flag). Beginners or experienced students may attend this track.

Advanced Track

Designed for experienced color guard performers. Enhance your skills in either sabre, rifle, or flag (as individual tracks) or take the weapons track which teaches both rifle and sabre. You must audition for the Advanced Track.

Elite Track

Designed for experienced color guard performers who excel at all three pieces of equipment (rifle, sabre, and flag) as well as experienced movers and great performers. You must audition for the Elite Track.

Meet the Instructors

Susie Harloff

Susie Harloff is thrilled to be returning to the Summer Symposium for her 19th year. Harloff lives in Avon, Indiana, where she was a director, choreographer, instructor and technician for the Avon High School color guard programs and currently serves as the Middle School color guard director. She is the color guard director for the 2017 Bands of America Tournament of Roses Honor Band color guard, her fourth time working with this amazing group of students. Harloff is a third grade teacher in Indianapolis and refines her love of performing by participating in numerous community theater productions during the year. She is married to the incredible Matt Harloff, has two children, Tyson Matthew and Shaelyn Rae, and is a self-professed Disney addict.

Robbie Arnold

Robbie Arnold is currently a third grade teacher in the Clark County School System in Winchester, Kentucky. He serves on Site Based Decision Making Council and is currently working toward his Masters Degree in Teacher Leadership. Arnold also coaches the successful academic team. His color guard experience includes performing with the Madison Scouts 1999 and the Pride of Cincinnati 2003. He has been the color guard director for Adair County since 2002, lead designer for Beechwood High School 2005-2012, and been an integral part of the guard/design staff at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky since 2007. Arnold has also been the Assistant Director of the Lexis Winter Guard since its inception in 2011. Robbie is married to Dana Arnold from Winchester, Kentucky, and she also instructs and judges around the area. They have two children, Hayden, 6, and Hudson, 3.

Shannon Clark

Shannon Clark is a special education teacher at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky. She has many years of performing experience with groups including the Bluecoats (97-98), Crossmen (99), Phantom Regiment (00), Chimeras Winter Guard (00), and the Pride of Cincinnati (01-03, 06). Her previous teaching experience in pedantry arts includes Lafayette High School Marching Band Program, Carolina Crown, and many high school programs from the Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky areas. Currently, Shannon serves as the assistant director of Lexis Winter Guard from Lexington, Kentucky and is a member of the TriState Judges Association.
